About Me
I’m a fully qualified counsellor based in North Yorkshire. I work with adults experiencing various issues such as anxiety, depression, loss and everyday life issues as well as trauma and abuse, recent and historic and individuals with suicidal ideation. I currently work from Snainton, North Yorkshire both in person and online. I’ll work with you to explore what it is you need from counselling and find a way forward.

My Story

Before becoming a therapist...
For many years I worked in the corporate world and worked hard to build a strong career. I developed useful skills such as organising and planning and I built a reliable and trustworthy reputation.
As time went by I realised my work no longer provided value in a meaningful way and I began to notice that people would often turn to me for personal support. I also went through a difficult mental health period where I struggled to find the support I needed and it was from this point that my passion for learning about mental health and wellbeing grew. I soon realised that my future was going to be about helping and supporting others.
Since becoming a therapist...
I’ve now opened up my own practice, working from a comfortable space in Snainton, North Yorkshire. I value my work and time with clients and am passionate about helping them learn and grow, and understand more about themselves so that they can feel more secure in themselves and their lives.
I’ve worked with adults across a vast range of ages and backgrounds, across a broad variety of issues. I’ve worked as a Samaritan answering calls and listening to people when they are most in need, supporting them through some of their darkest hours.
I’ve continued my own personal development through reading and attending workshops, demonstrating my continual commitment to learning and growing as an individual to support my clients in the best way I can.
When I’m not working in my own practice...
I currently volunteer for a charity offering counselling services in their local community, which includes clients from a variety of backgrounds and presenting with a wide range of issues. I've previously also volunteered for Samaritans.
I love to spend my spare time outdoors and in the countryside whenever possible, walking or running with my dog. Hills and mountains are my happy place.
Training & Qualifications

I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I’m an integrative therapist which means I work in a variety of ways to meet the needs of individual clients. As a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) I work to their Professional Standards and Ethical Framework BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
I attend regular supervision in line with BACP guidelines. This ensures my work meets professional standards, enhances the quality of service I provide, enhances my learning and supports my resilience and fitness to practice.
I regularly attend training courses and events, and am passionate about investing in my continued professional development.
